Ebisu
This is a dance praising the virtues of Ebisu, the patron god of fishermen and businessmen and the god of wealth. The first half of the dance depicts a Shintô priest from the Soga family tutelary shrine in Izumo-no-kuni (modern Shimane Prefecture) visiting Nishinomiya Hiruko Myôjin Shrine (in modern Hyôgo Prefecture). The second half of the dance depicts Ebisu fishing for sea bream. It is a whimsical and celebratory dance. NPO Hiroshima kagura Art Laboratory |
