Yamato-takeru
Yamato-takeru (the son of Emperor Keikô, also known as the god Ousu-no-mikoto), having successfully conquered the powerful Kumaso warriors of Kyûshû, receives an Imperial order to subdue the east (Hokkaidô). On the way, he stops at Ise Shrine to pray for success and receives Amenomurakumo-no-tsurugi, the sword that Susanowo-no-mikoto pulled from the tail of the Eight-tailed serpent. He continues toward Kazusa (modern Chiba Prefecture), but in Suruga (modern Shizuoka Prefecture) comes under fire at the hands of bandits. Thanks to the magic sword, he wins the battle.
