[Kitano Tenman-gû Shrine, Kyôto] Kitano Tenman-gû Shrine Kitano Tenman-gû Shrine is the main shrine at which Sugawara no Michizane (845-903), Minister of the Right under emperors Uda and Daigo, is enshrined. He was enshrined here in 947 as the tutelary deity of the capital in fulfillment of an oracle by Emperor Murakami.
